In my previous article I talked about how meditation can help you ward off unnecessary stress from your life. We discussed that the key factor in triggering stress is tolerance. Lower tolerance levels not only increase the chances of stress attack, but also increases your temper as well. Yes, anger is another link in the tolerance, stress chain. Today we will be talking about the anger and stress relationship.
The first question which comes into the mind is why does a person get angry in the very first place? We often tend to get angry when something happens against our expectations or desires. Another reason to anger is that we set rules and regulations by ourselves for others to follow them. When someone moves against those rules we feel the heat rising inside. Remember how we defined stress earlier? Stress is the reaction of the body and mind to undesirable consequences. So is stress and anger the same thing? Eventually not, but they somehow are related.
Relation between Anger and Stress
The key link between stress and anger is tolerance. Lower tolerance is something that triggers both of them. When something undesirable happens we get stressed up or angry or both together. Therefore increasing tolerance is vital to reduce anger as well. One may not be aware but the anger in a person may cause him various health problems. He may be prone to various heart diseases, or have high blood pressure problems. Anger an stress together can be extremely dangerous to your health. Sudden nervous breakdowns or heart attacks are often the resultants of combined stress and anger. Anger also reflects on the face takes away the pleasantness of the face.
Can I stop getting Angry?
In order to stop getting angry, one should repeat again and again that there is nothing in the world that can make him/her angry; it is only his own tolerance level. Meditation again can be very beneficial in increasing tolerance. Once you make yourself aware that anger is nothing but only your way of thinking, then you can control it easily. Never say that your anger is out of control. The human mind can do everything, controlling anger is nothing exceptional.
Why do I get Angry?
The reason why one gets angry over and over again is due to the negative pattern of thinking we often adapt from people around us. People tend to remember negative events longer than the positive ones. When you think about them over and over again, you start to develop a negative thinking as well. This lowers your tolerance, increases temper and make you more prone to stress.
