Aromatherapy is a fragrant way of alternative treatment. Till now we were aware of the beauty effects aromatherapy can give us. Aromatherapy essential oils are used in facials and hair care products as well. Aromatherapy, however, is a complete treatment for all types of ailments. Stress is one of them. Aromatherapy can help reduce stress considerably.
Aromatherapy works by using various plant essences to treat problems. There are a number of such essences which are very effective in calming and relaxing the mind and the body. Aromatherapy is not a very complicated form of treatment. It is as simple as dipping a piece of cotton in an essential oil and inhale the scent.
However a little caution is required is you are sensitive. It is better to consult an aroma therapist before you use any special essential oil. Regular oils like lavender can be used by anyone as it is not that strong. A blend of lavender, geranium, and patchouli are great for treating tension and anxiety. Another useful blend is a few drops of chamomile and Melissa mixed together. These work great as nerve sedatives and give you natural relaxation.
Essential Oils and their Uses
A will share the few essential oils I know that help in stressful conditions. Lavender as I said earlier is great for relaxation and helps relieve stress. Rosemary essence stimulates your mind and sharpens it. Geranium and Chamomile essences also help to reduce stress considerably. I have used sandalwood oil to treat insomnia and depression. Juniper berry oil is very beneficial for those who can’t seem to control their anger. It helps to reduce anger and anxiety. Sweet marjoram oil is also said to be good in anxiety, however I haven’t used it personally.
Get a Massage
Aromatherapy massages may work wonders when you need to relax and ward off stress. If you can afford go to an aroma therapist and get a professional massage. If not, then don’t worry, get your favorite essential oil and dilute is with carrier oil, or mix a small portion in your regular massage oils. Ask your kids you siblings to give you a good massage with that blend at home.
I advise all people suffering from stress to get an aromatherapy massage at least once to know the difference it makes. The blends from nature suck the stress and tiredness out of your body leaving a light body and relaxed mind.
A Useful Blend
I’d like to share a simple aromatherapy blend with all my reader here before closing this article. 20 drops of lavender oil, 10 drops of rosemary oil, 10 drops black pepper oil, 5 drops peppermint and 5 drops of Cypress oil. Mix them well and use them whenever your body aches with pains due to stress. Have a good day!
