1. How to Remove White Stains From Dark Car Seats

Everyone likes to put on dark covers on their car seats. These covers not only give your car a rich sophisticated look but also cover up dark stains. These dark car seats however become a nightmare when the stains are white. Light color stains tend to stand out more prominently against the dark background. One can’t use any harsh fabric cleaner as it may affect the color of the seats. Today I will be discussing certain tips which may help you clean white stains from your car seat covers.

Things Required:

Spray bottle
Pieces of soft cloth or sponges
Some mild foaming cleaner
Fresh water

Steps:

First and foremost, never let the stain stand too long. Even if you are on a long trip try to find a stop as soon as possible and give the stain some early treatment so that it does not become tough.

Try the simplest method first. Get some lukewarm water and a soft cloth. Dip the cloth in the water and squeeze off excess water from the cloth. Rub it slightly over the stain and then wipe off with a dry towel. This method works best for leather seats.

Better even, have a spray bottle in hand, slightly mist the stain and wipe it off.

If the stain still remains after the water treatment. Try some mild foaming cleaner. The lukewarm water would have weakened the stain by then. It would be easy to clean off the stain with any mild foaming cleaner.

Any fresh stain can be removed easily by the method mentioned above. However, if the stain has stood for long, slightly mist the stained area and rub in a drop of cleaning liquid. Let the liquid stay on for a while. Mist it slightly when ever it appears to dry and give a gentle scrub.

Continue this treatment for an hour or two and the stain will hopefully be removed.

Once the stain has gone, blot the wet area with some paper towels to take off as much moisture as possible. If you have a hair dryer, blow hot air followed by cool air to dry off the seat.

Leave the windows open for a while so that there is no behind of moisture left behind

Tips:

It is useful to keep pieces of soft cloths, a bottle of fresh water and a bottle of mild foaming cleaner in your car back. One never knows when a stain might strike.

Need an alternate to a foaming cleaner? Try your regular dishwashing liquid. If it is mild on your hands, it will be milder on your car seat as well. A drop would be sufficient to clean off any stain.

Warnings:

Never use hot water. Hot water will make the stains sturdy. Better use lukewarm water or normal tap water.

Never go after harsh cleaners, they might damage the color of your seat beyond repairs. Dark colors are very sensitive to harsh ingredients.
